Dementia Caregiver Workshop
This Dementia Caregiving workshop is 3- 3-session program for those caring for a person
with dementia or Alzheimer’s. It assists with reducing caregiving stress by providing useful
tools and information.

Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Toward Health)
Designed to provide skills and tools to help people living with type 2 diabetes and their support system live a healthier life. It is a fun, interactive, six-week workshop led by certified leaders.

Matter of Balance
Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restricting their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
You will learn to:
- View falls as controllable
- Set goals for increasing activity
- Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
- Exercise to increase strength and balance
Who should attend?
- Anyone concerned about falls
- Anyone interested in improving balance, strength, and flexibility
- Anyone who has fallen in the past
Cost: $10.00 is requested to cover the cost of the participant manuals but is not required to participate in the class

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
a low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and stiffness. The routines include gentle range-of-motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level. See Calendar below.

Silver Sneakers
Get stronger and improve your balance through exercises that strengthen the ankle, knee and hip joints, all in a fun and social setting. This class is designed specifically to help prevent falls.

KISS- Keeping Independent Seniors Safe
The KISS program (Keeping Independent Seniors Safe), is a telephonic reassurance system that keeps seniors and their loved ones worry-free. Participants in the KISS program can call the KISS office or receive a telephone call every Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to ensure that the participant is alright. Special arrangements can be made for participants who need weekend coverage.

CHAAT – Chatting Helps Aging Adults Thrive
Loneliness is the perception of feeling alone or isolated. You may know- or be one of the 42.6 million adults who experience these feelings daily. Chatting Helps Aging Adults Thrive (CHAAT) is aimed at addressing the isolation and loneliness issues among seniors. A no-cost friendly call is placed once a week by a volunteer to check in and chat! Art Therapy
Providing counseling that helps seniors self-identify stress, depression, loss, hoarding, and other cognitive and psychological challenges. VAAA has also partnered with the Flint Institute of Arts to provide opportunities for seniors to learn and participate in art-related activities.
Oral Health Cleanings
Through a partnership with Mott Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic, oral cleanings are provided to seniors in need.
Medical Nutrition Therapy
A physician-referred program that allows a registered Dietitian to provide an individualized nutrition plan and education to those with specific diagnoses.
Educational Workshops
Provided by Valley Area Agency on Aging throughout the community, on various topics including Memories Matter, Caring for a Loved One with Dementia, What is Power of Attorney?, Cooking for One, Senior Nutrition, Food Safety at Home, and What is Diabetes?.
